upgraded catalog into art journal.

gesso magazinegesso and glued a used DYER SHEET to the magazine cover first. then gesso the page.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Glue a couple pages together for extra strength also helps when you  apply the gesso, OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMake sure the Gesso is dry before doing your next set of pages.you can leave a couple pages without Gesso and glue water color paper or other types of paper for you art journal, what ever you want to do, as long as you have fun doing it.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAyou could even add photo paper and use those Inks you ve been wanting to try. LOL….

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I trimmed the extra paper from the sides. and made it all look even.  Then I tore some green paper and glued to USED DRYER SHEET.  Next I Painted the sky blue, and watered down the paint.Dabbed it with paper towel to give it lighter puffy cloud look. made some knot stitch flowers of yellow and some of blue.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAnext I added Shimmer to grass blades, with watered down Pearl Ex powder.next I sewed the glass green beads on , for a flowery look. And the Yellow flowers got a golden stem of gold thread..

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThen I added my tree which is made from Sisal Twine,I untwisted it and pulled apart and finger painted it with black and Brown Acrylic paints. also made a nest also with Twine used more paint and added yellow for a slight tinge of color change on the nest. cut and glued branches in place. and tree. added a 3d puff behind the bird. {The Bird was a gift from a swap came with a bunch of die cuts from CANDY LOWEKE.. Which a big thank you for this … Love them….

Ill share what I do with this book as  I do the pages. thanks for the comments, its always great to get them….

First I folded the mulberry paper in sections. then cut them into squares and then to random shaped circles , some I wet the edges and tore to give it a feathered look edge, then randomly used a pair of scissors and curled the edges of paper to look more like poppies.then used my awl,to poke a small hole in the flower and the paper petals.and cut some green circles of paper, and Crinkled the papers and wrinkled then opened back up.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAnow I assembled then with a dark brad. And it still looked plain so I fluffed the paper with the Awl, and then cut the black flower petal in to small strips so it would look like a poppy flower.arranged the petals and , finished them…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe small Black flower was cut on my Cricut  machine.

I have been working on back ground pages

having fun with the paints and credit card spreading the paints. then I added the texture ,with texture magic. and more paint then some sparkle. and drew designs in the blue texture. added my mermaid.. I think I may do a yellow submarine for the other page. sea weed is also texture magic.I buy white so I can change the colors when I need to.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

this was my challenge for this week , I took it and ran with it……………………

This weeks challenge is all about Spring!! Goodness knows with all of this grey dreary New England weather we’ve been having lately, some bright sunshine and warm air would be more than welcome.

So this week I want to use Spring as our inspiration. The sounds, the colors, the animals, the flowers, and anything else you associate with this wonderful time of year. Let it all inspire you and see what you come up with.

because its snowing out right now hiding all the flower blooms and green grass… Yikes……………….

here is my SPRING ADVENTURE, all I can see are the cute birds dressing her and the flowers and music that was playing in the background….. YES THIS IS SPRING, and I went with 3 -d because its just so COOL……… stamps, paint, fabric, lace under her shirt , flowers and more flowers and sharpies, and paint spray. wood beads and grassy fibers sewn on lace.with little baby green flowers.some fiber frills for trees, butterfly is an embrod. patch, feathers on my birds and yellow canary paint for the bird. gold and yellow sun. some stimple and swirls in jelly pens… OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Annie’s Crafty Adventure challenge at Craftylink

This weeks challenge is called “Mixed Manos Mania”!

1. Use your hand in your piece.  Trace it, take a photo, whatever works for you.  Just go with it.

2. Use a quote that has something to do with hands in your piece.  Here is a ilink to where you can find some: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/keywords/hands.html

This is the one I used:

I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back.
Maya Angelou

Use a quote that speaks to you.

3.  Use two of your favorite colors in you piece.  I used pink and blue in mine.  What are your favorite colors?

Can’t wait to see what you come up with!!! As always please share your photos, questions and comments below.

And I  decided to go with earthy tones and  mulberry papers and a tree drawn on a hand.. it took along time to make up my mind  what to do but alas I came up  with this
