Using water Color tubes in place of GELATOs

Wanted to play along online with some artist but I had not gotten my hands on Gelatos YET… LOL so went for the next best thing I have on hand….OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI bought these a while back at the Christmas tree for $2.99 good deal, LOVE THESE wonderful colors……….. First thing was doing a photo transfer on one of the double page journal.I spread my Gesso medium on the page not to thick, then put the photo I printed on my computer{ I use Kodak Printing paper for my photos}now I needed to burnish the photo down real well so there’s no air bubbles..

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI used my fingers then a bone folder to make sure. I had a few mishaps .. But redid it and let it dry over night.

Now spray the photo with water bottle so its good and wet, nor rub the layers of paper off. Keep wetting as you go The paper will roll up and reveal your photo, so pretty…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANext I chose red, yellow, and orange. added the colors with my fingers and smeared on the paper, then in water  and spread out till I liked the color strength..

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALove playing in paints with my fingers.. If the colors to dark just use a wet paper towel and dab it it will lighten the color for you. spray more water and dab again if you want it even lighter.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERARepeat  with other colors you can even blend them in to each other.

next I added some texture I wanted it to dry fast… then I used more Gesso just a tiny bit smeared and took newspaper and made a print transfer with it same as the photo only take of while still wet.   And then used my stencils with some Gesso on my fingers.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANext step I cut three hearts out of gift wrap paper glued them down , then stamped butterflys all around the edges.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAthen highlighted the bee and butterfly with black ink and a stencil brush. Also added Dragon Flies and a lady bug with my stipple brush and stencil.

Did you KNOW Yasutomo makes PAN watercolors?

Well yes they do! found these at the Hobby Lobby… while on vacation, and theres a bigger bonus they are PEARLESCENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!         and OH SO PRETTY………………………….   check it out a sweet case,  that has an insert on the lid for mixing your colors……….. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAso I have been playing with my make over magazine booklet and turning it into an art journal….  Now that my vacation is over ….. I have been playing most of the day.. got out my gift wrap paper, and was going to use the glue stick but changed my mind and used the homemade Mod Podge idea from Kelly Donovan. Which I truly love…..OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

so I glued it all down, added water to the paints and painted straight lines across the page  then misted with water added more colors…… It was so pretty staring at me all sparkly and gleaming…  I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do anything with it…   I liked the way it s colors were blending all in… so I took out my rubber stamps and blew the dust off… haha naaa weren’t that bad… And got busy stamping , It was so cool how the colors were just in the right areas for make up and lips and eyes… So I gave them a more defined look with my markers and art pens. I really lov how this turned out… digging up my ISC Rubber stamps……
